Barn Swallows - With Solano Land Trust

Follow the Holokahi Family of Solano Land Trust as they explore a Califrnia Barn Swallow right in their backyard! Both male and Female Barn Swallows are about 6 inches longhave a dark blue wings and backs, and organe chests. They are a migratory species that can be found from Alaska to Argentina. The female lays four to six eggs while both parents help incubate the eggs and care for the young. Once the chicks hatch, they can fledge at about three weeks old. Fledging isn't flying, but more comparable to how babies crawl before they walk. The Barn Swallows migrate with a large flock and can travel as much as 600 miles in one day.
