Sandy Beach County Park
This beach in Rio Vista offers a boat launch ramp. Day Use, Beach and Campground accesses remain temporarily closed during COVID.
Mare Island: San Pablo Bay National Wildlife Refuge
From Mare Island to the mouth of the Petaluma River is home to the San Pablo Bay National Wildlife Refuge. This is a hotbed for many species, including several migratory birds. Activities include fishing, hiking, wildlife viewing, and hunting. Trailheads are located in several areas on the south side of Hwy-37, and at the end of Azuar Dr and A st on Mare Island.
Putah Creek Wildlife Area
Located to the east of Lake Solano County Park, the Putah Creek Wildlife area offers fishing, hiking, wildlife viewing, birdwatching, and hunting. Click here to learn more at the California Fish and Wildlife’s website.
Lake Solano County Park
Located north of Vacaville along Putah Creek, this park is known for its shaded picnic areas, boat and canoe launching opportunities, and wild peacocks.
Benicia Waterfront and Marina
Benicia’s waterfront is the downtown center of town where you can visit the shoreline of the Carquinez Strait, walk down the Promenade, and even go to the Beach. Learn more at https://visitbenicia.org/waterfront/
Benicia State Recreation Area
Located between Benecia and Vallejo. Benicia State Park offers a local getaway that favors nature walks, shoreline scenery, and great views of the nearby landscapes.
Rockville Hills Regional Park
Located just west of Fairfield near Solano Community College
